We have written before about ways to make bathing easier for people with mobility limitations. Some of the adaptive equipment we sell works great for those who can get into their shower or tub with assistance. But what about those for whom this is impossible? We have already discussed our great No-Rinse products for when there is no accessible shower around, but now we would like to introduce you to some equipment that would be a great permanent solution for your bathing needs.
Bed baths can get us through a sticky situation, but everyone needs a good soak at least every once in a while. For those bound to their bed and wheelchair, taking a nice warm bath involves complicated or impossible transfers.
The EZ Bathe Inflatable Tub is a bathtub that can be used in the bed with absolutely no transferring or lifting required. Your caregiver can roll the deflated tub underneath you just like a draw sheet. Then your caregiver inflates the tub with the wet/dry vacuum and connects the handheld shower to any tap within 25 feet, allowing you to take a real bath right from your bed. The tub is drained easily with a drain hose going to your bathroom’s tub or sink. When you are done with your bath, simply deflate and remove. The wet/dry vacuum will dry the tub thoroughly.
While the EZ Bathe Inflatable Tub works for bathing and shampooing, if all you are looking for is an easier way to wash your hair thoroughly, consider the EZ Shampoo Washbasin, an inflatable washbasin that fits right in your bed. It features a comfortable space for the neck and an inflatable pillow to support the head. Your caregiver can pour water over your hair and drain the water and suds through the 30 inch drain hose.
The EZ Shampoo Washbasin is made even more convenient by the EZ Shower, a water bag that can hang on the bed post. The hose and valve on the bottom can be used to spray your hair just like a real shower.
Another option for shampooing is the Shampoo Tray, which can be used while in a chair or wheelchair. The tray comes up snugly and comfortably on the back of the neck and is stabilized by a strap on your forearm. With a handheld shower, sold separately, your caregiver can spray your hair while the water runs off the tray right into the sink.
We hope you will be able to find an easier way to enjoy running water with these handy items.
