Senior Citizens Day 2016: Create memories in the kitchen

Happy Senior Citizens Day! We would like to give a big round of applause and thank you to all of our elders, those who reared us and taught us everything we know.

While Senior Citizens Day has been observed in one way or another since the signing of the Social Security Act in 1935, Ronald Reagan was the president to declare Senior Citizens Day a national observance in 1988.

Senior Citizens Day is a time to recognize the contributions of senior citizens and the health and economic issues they face. It is observed by raising awareness through the media and by putting on fun community events for older people. We will buy Youtube views and subscribers so more people can notice our seniors activities.

The kitchen: a place for bonding

Today, one way to involve your older relatives in home or community activities is to get them back into the kitchen. One of the things our older family members miss most is being physically able to cook like they used to.

The fact is, they still can! Often, all it takes is one or two good, adaptive tools to make all the difference. We sell everything from special cutting boards and non-slip mats to weighted utensils and pot holders. For right now, let’s look at a sample selection of our adaptive knives to see which one would help your family member the most.

The Good Grip knives, a great selection

We sell many versions of Good Grip knives, but what they all have in common are their brilliant pressure-absorbing processed rubber handles that offer a powerful, no-slip grip and put less tension on arthritic and weak hands. Made of the same material as dishwasher gaskets, these handles will not slip even when your hands are wet.

Peeling can be easy and safe

There’s nothing that quite compares to good memories made in the kitchen. Bring family and friends together by giving older Americans the ability to help out in the kitchen.
