Happy Nursing Assistants Week!

This week is National Nursing Assistants Week. This time of year is a time to extend appreciation for all the caregivers who perform the extraordinary work of caring for our elderly and disabled loved ones. Thank you!

Things to do for this week

Nursing assistants, caregivers, personal care attendants — what they all have in common is that they have dedicated their careers to the important work of caregiving. It is their job, and National Nursing Assistants Week is not only a good time to say thanks, but also a good time to make sure caregivers and their clients have what they need in order for the job to get done. This can include direction and instruction on methods such as safe lifting, as well as increased planning and organization.

Get organized easily

That is where our state-of-the-art pill organizers come into play. We have a variety of pill organizers, and which pill organizer will work to keep your loved one and their caregiver organized depends on your individual situation. You or your loved one’s medication regimen may be complicated, and getting organized can ease stress for caregivers, set appropriate expectations and provide peace of mind.

Some pill organizers we sell are designed to be handled primarily by caregivers or nursing assistants, while others are designed to be used more independently by the client or patient, especially for those with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.

One organizer that is meant to be used by the client is the MedCenter System Pill Organizer, which lets you organize all pills for an entire month. The talking reminder reminds the user to take morning, noon, evening and night doses when the set time comes. Push the red button to turn off the alarm, and at the end of the day, place the day’s container red side-up to keep up with what has already been taken. This machine can be used by both caregivers and clients.

MED-E-LERT Electronic Medication Reminder & Dispenser

MED-E-LERT Electronic Medication Reminder & Dispenser

The MED-E-LERT Electronic Medication Reminder & Dispenser dispenses only the dose needed at a given time of day. When the alarm comes on, the caregiver or the client simply pours the exposed pills into their hand. A caregiver or family member can set up the weekly regimen and lock the dispenser with a key to prevent overdosing. You can buy it with a clear top or solid white top.

Tools such as these can bring added peace to your home and improve the caregiver-client relationship.
