Bring back running on Memorial Day

Memorial Day is only a few weeks away, and with the good weather in full swing, there is no better time than May 25 to engage in one of the most patriotic American activities. No, we’re not talking about baseball, barbecue or fireworks, as patriotic as these things may be. Instead, we’re talking today about an activity that is as healthy as it is American: Memorial Day running races.

According to runningintheusa.com, there are over 200 Memorial Day races going on around the country with dedicated runners celebrating by physical exertion those who sacrificed for our freedom. Perhaps you have been part of this great tradition of Memorial Day running but have been halted by arthritis.

While some forms of arthritis may indeed prevent long runs, we encourage you to talk with your doctor to find out a running regimen that is healthy and feasible for your level of arthritis.
